About Me
Chef Kovács Gábor Áron
My Little Story
My name is Kovács Gábor Áron , I am the owner and head chef of the Castle Restaurant, the Saint George Palace (event hall for three hundred people) and the GADO Gourmet Bistro.
I graduated from the Berde Áron Vocational High School of Economics and Public Administration in Sepsiszentgyörgy with a waiter-chef degree, and then I started my first job at the Castle restaurant. After a year, I felt that I wanted to learn more, I wanted to expand my knowledge with modern culinary techniques and secrets, so in 2011 I went to Budapest to practice / study at the Vár Kastély Restaurant in Buda , a place visited by many world-famous celebrities. I also worked for Klassz Restaurant, Déryné Bistro, Seasons Bistro and Fricska Gastropub to gain professional experience.
The Castle Restaurant was built and opened by Kovács Mihály in 1996, where local traditional dishes were famous, including the royal knuckle, which is one of the most famous dishes to this day.
In 2013, my father, Kovács Mihály, handed over the management of the Castle Restaurant to me. At that time, the restaurant was renovated, furnished in a different style and reopened with a new creative menu.
My goal is to raise the level of hospitality at home to a higher standard and to give people a chance to learn about the novelties of gastronomy. In the long run, we want to produce every single ingredient for our kitchens ourselves!
We make traditionally, additive free, noble mold salamis, various cold cuts, seasonally homemade syrups, juices and spice mixes.
